Its predecessor model was a big success and is one of the top-selling 4K camera drones on the market. DJI presented the successor model, the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum, a few days ago at the IFA in Berlin.
Although this drone does not have any new functions it offers a much better performance.
We summarized whether the new DJI Mavic Pro Platinum is worth buying.
There are only minimal changes from the outside of the new DJI Mavic Pro Platinum.
You will notice another lettering and the propellers have golden angled tips instead of white stripes. Those angled tips might be the main advantage of the new drone.
Angled tips –however in a different form - are common in the aviation industry.
If you look at the wingtips, you will see that they are not flat and horizontal, they are slightly curved or even vertical.
Those tips can also be found on planes and are called winglets, they provide a better aerodynamic by reducing wake turbulences, which all planes “suffer from”, and they lower the kerosene consumption.
This is the first time that DJI makes use of those advantages in a drone.
The new DJI Mavic Pro Platinum offers a longer flying time with 30 instead of “only” 27 minutes as it is the case with the predecessor model.
Three more minutes are not succinct and should therefore be seen as a minimal improvement. Every extra minute a drone can spend in the air increases the comfort and also safety, for example with the correct settings for the Low Battery Warning.
Moreover, the new DJIs drone is much quieter, 4dB, but this is not only because of the new
propellers, also the improved ESCs play a role.
This might also be an advantage if you fly in busy places – however, you have to consider the local and national rules if you fly over crowds.
The price for the new DJI Mavic Pro Platinum drone is 1.099$, so it is about 100$ more expensive than its predecessor model. Click here to see the current price.
However, you don’t have to upgrade the drone, since the predecessor model also does an excellent job and there is not a big difference between both models.
But if you consider buying a new drone, you should definitely take the new DJI Mavic Pro Platinum.
